Parma City Schools releases video rendering of proposed high school // A social media post featuring a video rendering of the proposed new high school building’s exterior -- at the current site of Parma High School -- has nearly 35,000 views in the week since it was published. “It’s exciting,” Parma City Schools Superintendent Charles Smialek said. “It’s great to be able to point to a tangible product and say, ‘This is exactly what you would be purchasing with the tax increase you’d agree to take on as a homeowner, property owner.’” »

Dam to be removed, stream restored at Brightwood Lake in Concord Township // Construction will begin in July to remove a 55-year-old dam in Concord Township and restore a segment of Kellogg Creek. "The goal of this project is to restore the stream channel to more of a natural configuration, plant native species so that we can enhance the environment, restore the stream to...a nice gradient that will allow for fish passage, and not only fish passage but some of those other macroinvertebrates that will migrate up the channel as well," said Tim Miller, director of the Lake County Stormwater Management Department. »

Wadsworth Residents learn about roundabout project // A public hearing was held at City Hall on Thursday evening to inform residents about the addition of a roundabout to the intersection of state Route 57 and Seville Road. Service Director Robert Patrick said this roundabout will be added due to the high number of traffic crashes that have occurred at that intersection in recent years. He said a feasibility study on the intersection was conducted in 2016 and the study showed adding a roundabout would be the safest way to reduce the number of crashes. »

Plan in the works to renovate one of Youngstown’s main roads // Glenwood Avenue is one of Youngstown’s main roads, running north to south through the South Side from Mahoning Avenue to Midlothian Boulevard. Now, the city is putting together a plan to renovate Glenwood. The actual work is still a long way away but Wednesday evening, the community was presented with the start of a plan. »
