GPD Receives ODOT Prequalification for Subsurface Utility Location, Geotechnical Field Exploration, and Geotechnical Drilling Inspection

GPD recently received our prequalification for Subsurface Utility Location (SUL), Geotechnical Field Exploration, and Geotechnical Drilling Inspection services from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).

Subsurface Utility Location (SUL)

Our team recognizes the importance underground utilities play in our clients’ plans. The accurate depiction of utility locations via survey mapping plays an invaluable role in successful design outcomes. GPD utilizes our state-of-the-art geophysical locating equipment, highly trained and experienced staff, and efficient processes and procedures to provide a clear picture of what lies hidden below the surface. With the addition of our recently purchased 2017 Vac-Tron LP573SDT Hydro Excavation Unit, our team can now expose subsurface facilities safely by “soft digging,” provide survey grade coordinate data on those facilities, and more.

Geotechnical Field Exploration and Geotechnical Drilling Inspection

Accurate determination of the soil, groundwater, and bedrock conditions is a critical step in the successful design and construction of both public and private projects. GPD’s team of geotechnical drillers is experienced and knowledgeable in obtaining both disturbed and undisturbed soil samples, retrieving bedrock coring samples, and installing piezometers and slope tubes. Our drilling inspectors understand the importance of recording the data obtained during the field exploration, and properly preparing the obtained samples for transport to our laboratory.
